A heart-rending instance of child abuse has come to light after a little girl of two was discovered dead in a drawer, supposedly after being hit by her mother’s lover because she “hadn’t used a fork properly”.
The tragic event took place in the state of Ohio, where local authorities have reported that a girl who was identified as Harmony Rose Shields, a two-year-old, was the victim of William D. Davis, the live-in partner of her mother, 31, and who died of her injuries.
Details of the Abuse
As per the court papers, Davis was accused of assaulting Harmony by hitting her with a fork over tiny errors, like eating improperly. The violence continued until the toddler was killed.
Davis and his girlfriend, a 20-year-old Brittany Gosney, whose baby Harmony was, had hidden the corpse of the girl in the drawer before they moved it to a deeply secluded area beyond the Ohio River bank.
Mother’s Involvement and Arrest
At first, Gosney lied that her daughter disappeared during a visit to the park, but opportunities lay in the fact that the investigators could quickly spot the contradictions in her account. As she got interviewed, she disclosed her participation in the cover-up, admitting that Davis was the one who forced her to get rid of the body.
Both Gosney and Davis were taken into police custody, as they faced charges of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and child endangerment. Davis was charged with additional accusations related to the alleged physical abuse that led to Harmony’s death.
