Midseason 2026 TV Schedule: When ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, CBS’ Y: Marshals and More Fan-Favorite Shows Return

Season 22 also came with major behind-the-scenes shifts. The show reduced the minimum guaranteed appearances for its veteran cast, dropping from 18 episodes per season to 14. As a result, several longtime Grey’s Anatomy stars will be absent from four episodes each  and Caterina Scorsone will be off the canvas for a full eight episodes.

Meanwhile, over at CBS, Yellowstone is expanding with a spinoff centered on Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes). Y: Marshals, premiering in March, follows Kayce as he leaves “ranching life behind to join an elite unit” of the U.S. Marshals. The series explores how he “combines his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring justice to Montana,” while navigating family, duty, and the psychological toll of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s fight against violence.

Alongside Grimes, the cast includes Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Brett Cullen, and Logan Marshall-Green.
