For quite a long time, people’s houses have been the battleground for the question of ketchup’s storage—where was the place for it, the fridge or the cupboard? Indeed, Heinz has finally spoken on the matter and, as per them, the only way was the correct answer.
The ketchup company decided to reveal the right place to store their popular tomato ketchup by means of social media, and it was no doubt they gave the answer: the fridge is the place for it.
Heinz made a social post coffee-themed and smart but strictly said that ther “Ketchup. Goes. In. The. Fridge.” They have also conducted a vote to learn people’s choice, and the most part (nearly 60%) of respondents preferred to keep the product cold.
What are the reasons for the fridge? Heinz clarifies that if, on the one hand, the ketchup is so acidic and contains natural preservatives that it is still safe to keep it in the cupboard until opening, on the other hand, refrigeration allows maintaining it much longer in a good state: fresh, tasty, and without any odd odour.

According to the experts, this isn’t only the question of your taste but also a matter of safety. Even if there is a preservative, you should follow the advice of food safety experts and refrigerate the open ketchup, suggested a Haiden chief product officer.
Quite naturally, people with another opinion still exist. They say that ketchup tastes better when it is room temperature, or they point out that the bottles in the restaurants are usually not in the refrigerator. But Heinz does not give in: “There was only ever one answer.”
If you used to keep your ketchup in the cupboard, maybe it’s the right time to clean up a little space in the fridge. After all, certainly, Heinz will not cut corn with ketchup?
