Finnish wildlife photographer Lassi Rautiainen has revealed how a female grey wolf got into a rare and extraordinary friendship with a male brown bear in the wilderness. For ten nights in a row, the photographer observed their secret meetings from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. How much time did they spend together? – Were they hunting, were they playing, did they share their food? – Yes, they were. The poet brings the issue of friendship to the parallel universe.
This level of friendship between the top predator couple has never happened elsewhere. Although the exact reason for their friendship is still unclear, Rautiainen suspects that their youth and ignorance may have been the attraction. Some lonely or unsure related to surviving in the wild were ‘remote thoughts’ from the human that became the literary piece.
Rautiainen was overwhelmed with joy to have been in the audience of this extraordinary union of the animals he termed one of the “perfect stories” that featured trust and cooperation. He was the first person in Europe to capture wolves and bears, and they became such good friends.
