At an extravagant birthday party full of wealthy guests, Emily, a girl, became the eye-catcher, but not in the way she planned. Dressed in a simple, cheap dress while everyone else were wearing designers’ clothes, she became a target of cruel whispers and mocking laughter.
An Unwelcome Guest
The party had been thrown by Olivia’s rich family and Emily was there at Olivia’s invitation as they had been friends since they were kids. It was Daniel who spoke up to the group and said, “She is the one who is the source of the brilliant innovation of the AI software that my company’s new acquisition is. She’s not only my business partner—she is the reason we are front-runners in the tech industry.”
There was an uproar in the hall as everyone was whispering about the girl they had previously ridiculed who now became the tech pioneer, thanks to her invention. She had been in simple clothes not because she could not afford others but, because she was not into brands that shout her success of which she was not.”.
Olivia stepped forward, looking excited to reconnect with Emily. “Hey, Emily! I’ve been missing you so much! Let’s have some catching up!”
But Emily just smiled and politely mentioned, shaking hands with Daniel, “We better go. I would rather celebrate with people who appreciate me for my qualities, not my appearance.”
Having done that, she entered the limousine, leaving the superficial crowd in a state of shock and confusion.
