Earlier this week, we discovered that Tressa Middleton, a former youngest mother in the UK, after giving birth at only 12, is now pregnant with her fourth child.
Lothian 29-year-old from Bathgate, made an ultrasound picture just 17 years after her first childbirth, which had been a shock to the entire nation, and shared it on Facebook.
“It’s another girl!!” she excitedly wrote. “Four girls—I can’t believe it! Good luck, Darren!”
While Tressa gets ready to welcome her newest member, we reminiscence her emotional ride and get an update from the other young parents who had once attracted the community’s attention.
Horrific attack
When Tressa Middleton was just 11 years old, she became the youngest mother in Britain, a tragedy that was later discovered to be the result of horrific abuse. Your pain can lead to many things, such as an addiction and, in Tressa’s case, a hopeless heroin one which cost her £400 per day. However, Tressa’s recent resilience and recovery are her main focus. Today, at 29, she is in a steady and mature relationship with her partner, Darren Young, and the couple is about to have their third child—a real manifestation of her strength and courage after the unbearable pain.
Britains Youngest Mother
Tressa Middleton, who was 12 years old when she became a mother, was Britain’s youngest mother for 15 years. In 2021, however, even more shocking news was released that an 11-year-old daughter became a mother, read the article by The Sun.
For legal reasons, the identity of the girl, who was 10 when she was s*****y assaulted, cannot be disclosed. The family had remained unaware of the atrocious abuse until the girl’s pregnancy was discovered, and thus, the social services had to step in immediately.
“Everyone has been extremely affected by the news,” revealed a friend of the family to The Sun during a telephone interview. Currently, she has a specialist who handles her emotional recovery. The most critical aspect is to guarantee that both she and the baby are out of harm’s way and are being taken care of.”
The situation has brought to mind the issues of child protection and the weaknesses of young people in the UK. The traumas of Tressa’s past seemed not to have fully disappeared as while this is a new tragedy, it is as well a very stark reminder of the existence of these evils and also that the structures of society are not adequately equipped to protect the weakest.

But six weeks later, DNA test results came out with a shocking reveal: Alfie was lied to. The baby’s mother, Chantelle Steadman, reportedly pointed to 14-year-old Tyler Barker as the real dad.
“I was broken,” Alfie confessed to The Sun in 2014. “I could not control my tears. I locked myself in my room—I felt that my life ended. Then Chantelle and Maisie just disappeared. I never saw them again.”
The repercussions of the incident were a nightmare for Alfie that lasted for several years. By 2019, he had no job, was a victim of the violence of alcohol, and the police sentenced him for theft and possession of a fake firearm. His future did not improve in 2021 when he and his mother were expelled from their residence due to accusations of drug and illegal activities.
Alfie’s story was the emblem of the British youth crisis once, but now it is a warning about the media hype, a family that is in pieces, and a system that failed to protect a kid who was forced into an adult’s nightmare.
UK’s Youngest Father
Before Alfie Patten came to light, there was another case of a young boy who received unwanted notoriety because of paternity. In 1998, Sean Stewart, an 11-year-old boy, was the youngest father in Britain after his 15-year-old neighbor, Emma Webster, got pregnant.
The two were residents of the same street in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, and Sean used to climb through the windows in order to visit Emma. The birth of their son, Ben Louis, took place just one month after Sean had his 12th birthday, and that was the reason why the pre-teen was given a day off from school.
“It wasn’t until afterwards that he told me he was 12,” said Emma in an interview with The Sunday Telegraph newspaper. “If only I had known, I wouldn’t have let it happen,” she added regarding the boy’s age.
Their lives went different paths after the birth of their son. Emma took another man as a husband and settled in a £200,000 house while Sean’s life had declined. He had finished his schooling in Bedfordshire, but as a teenager, he briefly pursued a criminal way of life and was sentenced to seven months’ jail time in the late 2000s for stealing.
“I haven’t kept in touch with Sean or heard about him for a long time,” said Emma at that time, showing her concern mainly for her son. “I don’t want to talk about him anymore. It does no good to my child.”
Like the story of Alfie Patten, which ensued at Miss Webster’s, it became a sad tale of lost childhoods. While Emma was going through the process of her life renewal, the young father, who was not even a teenager yet, turned out to be lost in the shadows of Britain, one more victim of the bitter situation that was far beyond his years.
The youngest mother of all time was only five years old
What seemed like an impossible event has actually happened and it was Lina Medina of Peru who became the youngest mother in history when she gave birth at the tender age of 5. Carried out in 1933, this remains the first case of pregnancy that has been officially documented where the mother was only 5 years old at the time.
Even though Medina is now an 89-year-old woman, she is still suffering from a disease called precocious puberty. This ailment is quite rare, and it can be seen mostly in children who are eight years old or even younger, and it is responsible for this early puberty issue.
She was not going to reveal the father of her child. In a situation where her father had initiated the arrest on charges of incest, he was cleared of all suspicions, as there was no evidence to confirm that he was the real father.
In some countries, such as the UK, the relationships of teenagers who are close in age and consensual will not result in legal consequences even if they are under the age of consent (16 in the UK). Although if the activity is sexual with a child under 13, it is regarded as a felony, and an aggravated one for that matter.
