Scientists have spotted a very strange, otherworldly predator hiding in the Pacific Ocean at the depths of the Pacific Ocean. This discovery is compared with a horror movie and also named “Darkness” with the new life thus gained.
A Creature from the Deep
The team of scientists found this new species when a deep-sea expedition with the help of remote devices was launched to survey the unexplored corners of the ocean floor. The dark entity was found at the extreme fathoms, where the sun’s rays could not reach it. It appeared to have bizarre, almost alien-like features, such as long arms with lights and a mouth suited to catch prey in the perpetual darkness of the ocean.
The teams of scientists paired with the Ocean Exploration Trust and other collaborating institutions were amazed when they saw the creature’s flexibility and believed that it could do this in one of the most unfriendly terrains in the world.
Why the Name ‘Darkness’?
The creature was named”Darkness” by the researchers (its scientific classification is still pending), thus they paid tribute to both its environment (the lightless depths of the ocean) and its terrifying, almost legendary features.
“This creature is a nightmare-like sight, completely adapted to become the king of the void,” Dr. Marina Torres, the chief of the marine biologist group during the said expedition, reported. “With its exceptional hunting strategies, poetry cannot compare.”
A Scary Creature from the Deep
At first glance, researchers who have observed the creature hypothesize that Darkness, in the first place, is an ambush predator, using the element of surprise as its ultimate weapon and attacking at high speed. The researchers are going to perform more studies with the aim of identifying Darkness and learning its position in the deep-sea food chain. DNA analysis can be used as an additional technique, and there are other ways that might offer detailed observations that might verify whether or not it is a new type of marine predator, unknown to science, that is.
