Mr. Fantasy made waves pun totally intended at the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
On Thursday, November 27, the singer debuted a brand-new track while performing aboard the Jolly Polly Pirate Ship float. Dressed in full pirate gear (green sunglasses included), he leaned all the way into the theme. His signature hip-gyrating dance moves were on full display as he worked the entire ship like a stage prop, giving the crowd a performance they won’t forget.
The kids riding the float with him couldn’t help but cheer as Mr. Fantasy performed. Their excitement was no surprise the singer has skyrocketed to fame ever since going viral on TikTok, and he brought that same infectious energy straight to the parade.
While younger fans were thrilled to see Mr. Fantasy finally getting his flowers on Thursday morning, others were left scratching their heads. For anyone not deep in that corner of TikTok, Mr. Fantasy is allegedly actor KJ Apa though Mr. Fantasy himself insists he has no idea who the Riverdale star even is.
In a September interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he leaned into the mystery, saying, “I mean, I think I am a good actor. If I was given the right opportunity, I would be quite good. I think I’m honest enough to be an actor. Often the best performers, like James Franco, they seem to have honesty. It exudes off of the screen, and so yeah, of course I’d be very interested, you know. I’d love to work with James Franco, if I haven’t already mentioned that. If I was to do it, I don’t think I’d do it without him.”
Mr. Fantasy posted his first TikTok in August and within just three months, he skyrocketed to one million followers. His debut single, fittingly titled “Mr. Fantasy,” quickly turned into a viral hit. Since then, he’s dropped a follow-up track, “Wayuwanna,” and has continued to dominate the internet with his offbeat charm and addictive sound.
The rising performer has even popped up on Dancing With the Stars, making surprise on-set appearances and filming TikTok videos with several of the show’s pro dancers.
Fans are increasingly convinced that KJ Apa and Mr. Fantasy are one and the same especially since the two have never been seen together. Still, Mr. Fantasy insists he has no idea who Apa is and claims he’s never watched Riverdale. Apa, of course, famously starred as Archie Andrews on the CW hit from 2017 to 2023. Ironically, even his Riverdale castmates have become die-hard Mr. Fantasy fans … though Mr. Fantasy says he doesn’t recognize them either.
Despite the ongoing identity theories, Mr. Fantasy appears laser-focused on music for now but he hinted that his creative path may expand.
“I’m not trying to define myself, do you know what I mean? I just am who I am,” he said in his Hollywood Reporter profile. “That’s how I’m trying to inspire people by being yourself, because that’s the biggest gift we have. We’re all born different, and it’s important to inhabit who you are instead of trying to be someone else. It’s tough now, when everyone wants to be the next big star like Austin Butler or James Franco. I’m guilty of it, aren’t I? Shoot me.”
