During a press conference on Tuesday involving the swearing-in of Dr. Mehmet Oz, a very dramatic medical emergency caught the audience unawares. As the previous television host and current official began to speak to journalists, the event took place.
According to the witnesses, an attendee, who at least accounts say was a staff member, collapsed suddenly. Dr. Oz immediately assisted the person suffering a heart attack, and the paramedics were called to the site.
“We had a medical situation that required urgent attention,” reported Dr. Oz. “The person is fine and now receiving proper care.” The press conference was stopped until the security and medical teams secured the area.
The unexpected situation caused the event to lose its cheerful mood, and it changed from what was supposed to be a celebration of Dr. Oz’s moving from a famous doctor to a public office.
