A very interesting new piece of research notes that all living beings might have a very weak, non-visible “aura” that gets extinct just at the moment when life disappears. This surprise, made by the group of scientists from the Federal University of Alagoas in Brazil, is one more piece of evidence that indeed we may be accompanied by a very subtle and not fully understood yet power of life force that is not quite clear to modern science.
Research and Its Observations
The team of physicists, under the supervision of Dr. Paulo Cesar Rocha, experimented on a highly sensitive electric field detector. They registered the energy fields around living bodies (of plants, insects, and humans) and it turned out that every organism was a source of an imperceptible yet measurable electromagnetic field.
What was most interesting was the fact that the field vanished suddenly after death had occurred. In such a study, the scholars spotted the phenomenon several times and remarked that the “aura” disappeared right after life functions stopped.

Even though the very nature of this energy field is not understood at the moment, some scientists say that it might be connected to:
- Biophotons: Weak light emissions produced by the processes of the cell are called biophotons.
- Bioelectricity: A network of nerves and cells responsible for the electrical activity that occurs within the body.
- Biological energy field that is yet to be discovered: Some of the sources of current suggest that it could be that the origin of what ancient traditions call the “life force” or “aura” that is loomed in here is still undiscovered.

Besides, almost every culture of every age has believed in the existence of a life energy which was called prana in Hinduism, qi in Chinese medicine, or, in the religious context, the “soul”. The study doesn’t prove the spiritual aspects, but the very fact that a question about a yet-to-be fully understood energetic element that science might have wasn’t left out.

As one of the phenomenal statements, skepticism will never fade away. Researchers who are critical of the observed phenomena say that the energy fields might be from electric currents that are left after the conclusion of biological activity in nature, in other words, a biological “aura”. The universality and authenticity of the effect of this phenomenon can be established by collecting more evidence. Besides, research will determine whether there is a real essence in it and what the actual form of the essence is.
