A once-optimistic £1.3 billion theme park that was designed to be the competitor of Disneyland now stands abandoned and is rotting, only a faint memory of its lost dreams.
The huge area that should have been a world-class attraction is now left to nature after it ran out of money and went into a legal fight, which caused an indefinite suspension of construction.
The Dream That Never Became Reality
The theme park called “Dreamland Global” was a plan for a huge entertainment center featuring thrilling rides, luxury hotels, and immersive themed zones.
The location was a prime tourist area, so developers felt confident that they could offer an experience comparable to Disney and Universal Studios by having the latest technology and the most interesting attractions.
Work began with much noise, and early print material showed off the big plan, such as a futuristic roller coaster, a water park, and even an artificial lake.
Investors threw billions into the operation, dreaming of the creation of an unmissable spot for visitors.
What Caused the Failure?
Despite the big idea, the project was soon in deep waters. According to reports, poor financial management, legal disputes over the ownership of land, and delays in building caused a high level of debt.
Some local people who had been very optimistic about the park as a positive impact on the economy are now only able to watch it through rusted fences and crumbling structures.
Unauthorised paintings cover incomplete buildings, greenery invades where the ground is cracked, a nd where the people were supposed to have gathered, now it is empty.
A Haunting Relic
Nowadays, the uninhabited place has turned into a scary attraction that is known only by its nature. People who like to explore difficult-to-reach places secretly come to take pictures of the crumbling ruins, then they distribute images of the rides that were not finished and the deserted streets that were supposed to be filled with the sounds of kids playing.
There are still a few who believe that a fresh investor can bring the project back to life, but after so many years of abandonment and unresolved issues with the law, it looks impossible.
