Dandelion Root Coffee

An Herbal Alternative Without the Caffeine

Earthy Dandelion root coffee is caffeine-free and almost tastes like a normal coffee drink. The roasted dandelion root gives the herbal drink nutrients and medicinal qualities used by folk medicine for centuries. A good drink for people who wish to cut back on caffeine and those who just want to sip something soothing and naturally detoxifying.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons roasted dandelion root (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups water

Optional Additions:

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg (for warmth)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey (for sweetness)
  • A dash of almond, coconut, or oat milk.

Directions

  1. Heat the water as follows: In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of boiling water to a boil.
  2. Steep Dandelion Root: Into boiling water, put in 2 tbsp of roasted dandelion root; reduce heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, longer for a stronger taste.
  3. Strain and Serve:  Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve (or coffee filter) directly into a mug.
  4. Customize (Optional): Add in your cinnamon sweetener and splash of milk.
  5. Enjoy: Sip it warm like coffee.
