The pair of popular bald eagle baby birds, Sunny and Gizmo, hometown Big Bear Lake may have a significant event in the near future—their first flights, in the wild, could be taking place shortly. The nestlings that have been growing fast with the care of their parents, Jackie and Shadow, are now not only exercising their wings but also considering to be free.
Among the detached experts in wildlife and fans there have been the volunteers who operate the nest camera, taking photos of and following the movement of the eaglets on the platform. The two little chicks are following the action by the bigger birds and have been found flapping their wings and jumping on the branch, which is a sure sign that they are close to being ready for leaving the nest.
The parents’ task of growing the various chicks is called fledging. It is a critical point as in human society, a teenager reaches the age he/she can leave home. Jackie and Shadow have done it before, so there are real chancesthat Sunny and Gizmo will make it, too. When fledged, the birds will still come back here for feeding, but at the same time, they will make use of every training opportunity.
Not only is the Bald Eagle family at Big Bear Lake well-known and loved by the local community, but it has also become the most watched on the Internet, thanks to the camera, which is connected online, and that provides a magnificent view of their daily struggles. Supporters are from all countries and are happy about the forthcoming flights of the birds, as it is both proof of freedom achieved and a sign of a step in their life journey to adulthood.
