A seventeen-year-old girl from Brazil met a tragic end after she ate cake that was poisoned, according to allegations. The crime dessert was sent to her place along with a love note, thus a police inquiry into her suspicious demise was started.
Details of the Incident
The victim 17-year-old girl named Fernanda Cabral da Silva Valoz, was at Goiânia, the capital of the central Brazilian state of Goiás. The local media stated that a cake was sent to her house on June 25 along with a note that said, “For the love of my life, with all the care in the world.”
Fernanda decided to divide the cake between her stepfather, José Marcos Moreira da Silva, 46, and her 13-year-old brother. Immediately after the meal, the three of them went through a very strong illness.
Family Rushed to Hospital
The family was taken to a local hospital, where Fernanda’s condition rapidly deteriorated. She experienced multiple organ failure and had to be supported by a machine for the continuation of life. Yet, death came on July 3.
Her stepfather and brother survived but required intensive medical treatment. The police, after the investigations, confirmed that the cake was poisoned with a pesticide, which is an agricultural chemical substance that is most common in the area where the cake was dispatched.
Police Investigation Underway
The police consider the case a killing, and they are probing whether the young girl was the perpetrator of the crime or if she was just a victim of a targeted attack. Among the investigation’s prospective motives are the love triangle and personal hatred.
Elisângela Cabral, Fernanda’s mother, revealed her sorrow with the words: “I am unable to find my daughter, my treasure. Only 17 years old, she was. Her dreams were so numerous.”
